The Nike LeBron 9 "Watch the Throne 2022" is the modern re-release of the popular colorway of LeBron James's ninth signature shoe with Nike Basketball. This colorway was originally a "Friends & Family" colorway of the performance basketball shoe created exclusively for LeBron and close family and friends. The "Watch the Throne" LeBron 9 is inspired by Jay-Z and Kanye West's 2011 "Watch the Throne" studio album, specifically its luxurious album artwork, which was designed by fashion designer Riccardo Tisci. The shoe was given a general retail release for the first time ever in January 2022. Details include a Metallic Gold Swoosh on either side of the black Hyperfuse upper, which is stabilized with interior Flywire cables and textile wings. Both the interior lining and laces have a premium-inspired multicolor design. LeBron James's signature appears in gold on the top of the tongue and gold-plated lace "jewels" are found on the mid-section of the tongue, partially obscuring the laces. Additional gold accenting is found in a speckle-like finish on the black foam midsole above the 180-degree Max Air cushioning unit underfoot. Release date: Release date: January 6, 2022
